Literature Text

Doc says it’s a clear-cut
case of soul loss.
He must sing with the lights off.
Soul loss leads to life drop.
Poor girl’s feeling listless.
Poor girl’s feeling useless.
Life drop leads to death ‘less the soul’s caught.

So we all go
where the light’s off.
And our hands clench while the Doc talks.
He says, “I now walk
where the dreams walk.
In the kingdom where you sleep,
walk.  There’s a grey trail
blazed where she walked.
From behind rocks springs a man-fox.
He whines, ‘the girl belongs to us now.
The girl grows into a dream now.’
The man-fox has a peaked cap
and a feather perched atop it.
I pull the feather off it.”

The Doc dissolves to growls now.
Resorts to scuffs and yowls now.
We feel the man-fox scowl but he’s then mist and the walk
goes on now.  “A pale trail where she went leads.
A soft moss grows beside it.
The soft moss will not tempt me
and I keep my eyes averted
while the she-wolves swarm around me.
They attack now.
Say ‘the girl is one of us now.
She has spines, sir.
Spines and fish-eyes.’”

Thought of land-things mixed with sea-things
makes our hearts stab.
Thought of young girls being like this
makes our guts seize.
And the soulless shell of her sobs,
no longer listless.

But the Doc gets all the she-wolves
and a bear as tall as trees comes.
And the bear as tall as trees yells
in a voice that sends our marrow
to our toe-tips---in a voice that
cracks our toenails, burns our hair off.
The story of an unfinished vision quest.

I agree that this is unfinished. I've noticed that a few of your other pieces are shaped this way as well. perhaps I'm more sensitive to this as I've been accused in like kind.

I look forward to the next part! ;-)
